Goodbye Jojo, Hello Tokyo

We’re doing our best to remember to take photos, it’s definitely an adjustment! But we’ve officially arrived in Tokyo and wanted to share a quick recap of what we’ve done to get here.

We started with a road trip from Cincinnati, OH to Stevens Point, WI to visit Mom, my sister, and our nephew, Afane. We also dropped off our car and our cat, Jojo. Although the visit was brief, it was wonderful to see family before taking off.

The following day, we drove to Wausau with our mom and enjoyed a nice lunch and walk around Wausau’s downtown.

From Wausau, we hopped on a Megabus to St. Paul, Minnesota, passing the time with an audiobook. While we only had a couple of waking hours in St. Paul, we made the most of it, meeting up with our friends Meletus and Annica and, fittingly, having our last dinner in the U.S. at Applebee’s.

The next morning, we were off to the airport and on our way to Tokyo!

After an luckily uneventful 12-hour flight, we landed at Haneda Airport, groggy but excited. We slowly navigated customs and baggage claim, got Kelly’s Google Fi working (eventually), and figured out the subways to reach our hotel in Akasaka. We inaccurately thought we’d make it to the hotel quicker, and have some energy for sightseeing, but we still made the most of the evening by walking around the neighborhood and having dinner. And that brings us to this early morning update—more to come!

    1. Hey Prince! – We’ve been listening to Brandon Sanderson book name “Tress of the Emerald Sea”. We got started on the 8 hour drive to Wisconsin haha. – We’re a little over half way through, and will finish it off on upcoming plane & train travel.
